The 16th edition of the international art event “Winter Salon”, organized by the Association of Artists of Macedonia, supported by APRA Porter Novelli Macedonia, was opened on 05.02.2016 (Friday), at the National Gallery “Cifte Hamam”.

This art event, founded in 1991, is the only one of its kind in Macedonia. Today’s physiognomy of the Winter Salon retains the essential characteristics: professionalism, strict selection of participants, quality catalog and appropriate media coverage. Since 2003, the “Grand Prix” (stay in the atelier of the “Cite Des Arts” in Paris) is provided by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia. From 2006 the Association of Artists of Macedonia incorporates the theme of the Winter Salon, which engages the artists in individual creative act. Novelty is the guesting of renowned, curatorial reference name that decides on the final physiognomy of the Salon and determines the award “Grand Prix”, resulting with international evaluation. So far, guests – curators at this art event were: Rolf Kielce McKenzie (Germany), Philipp Zidarov (Bulgaria), Tomur Atagok (Turkey), Philip Maurer (Austria), Emil Alexiev (Macedonia).
On this year’s “Winter Salon”, Czech art critic Mrs. Helena Fenclova, in a selection of 70 art pieces, as most appropriate to the theme “Levels of our Minds” chose the art piece “Between the two red lines” by the Macedonian author Katerina Tanevska.
 
“The Association of Artists is relevant factor in the Macedonian culture, professional association that brings together more than 400 artists that as their technique use drawing, sculpture, graphics and applied arts; Established authors, winners of national and international awards that build the dignity of the Macedonian art. The art event “Winter Salon” for three decades is the promoter of creative potential held by Macedonian authors and artists.”- said Mrs. Elizabeta Kanceska – Milevska, Minister of Culture in her speech at the opening ceremony, wishing the winner of the award productive stay in the atelier of Arts in Paris.
At the exhibition opening, besides Mrs. Elizabeta Kanceska – Milevska, Minister of Culture, their addressing to the audience had: H.E. Miroslav Ramesh, Ambassador of Czech Republic in Republic of Macedonia, Ms. Dita Starova – Kerimi, Director of the National Gallery of Macedonia and Mr. Hristijan Sanev, President of the Association of Artists of Macedonia.
“I believe that this art event, will continue to be an incentive for all authors to contribute to the artistic culture in Macedonia, building the Macedonian contemporary art and exploiting their creative potential. Indeed, it is our pleasure that there is increase of participation of artists from other countries on every edition, which is another confirmation of the importance of this event in Macedonia and beyond.” – said Mr. Hristijan Sanev, President of the Association of Artists of Macedonia.
