When was the last time you took a selfie? If you’re anything like me, chances are you’ve snapped a selfish pic at least once in the last few days – if not, more!

Now tell me this… When was the last time your selfie actually made a difference? For most of us, the answer is never, but for hundreds of PR pros around the world, that answer is earlier this month.=

November 8 – 10, Porter Novelli had the opportunity to sponsor the PRSA International Conference in Atlanta. Along with our Premier Sponsorship, we hosted an interactive booth experience and, in true PN spirit, we shook up the norm and showed out in a major way.

During the conference, PN took the concept of a selfie and flipped it on its head. We asked conference attendees to stop by our booth and snap a #SelflessSelfie. The idea was to take a seemingly “selfish” act and make actually mean something. Simple enough, right?

By taking a #SelflessSelfie and posting it on social media, participants were entered for a chance to win $100 for any non-profit charitable organization of their choice. No one could have anticipated the impact this simple activation would have on the conference.

Porter Novelli’s #SelflessSelfie was one of the most used hashtags during the entire conference, reaching a potential 710K+ people. More than 150 selfies were taken and people lined up for nearly 10 minutes, in some instances, interacting with our brand and experiencing PN’s culture of social impact. Event organizers, PRSSA students, existing clients, prospective clients and – yes, even other agency folk – fell in love with our unique approach to giving back.

Engagement was incredible at this year’s PRSA conference. Porter Novelli spiked conversation around how you can make a selfish pic become a selfless act of kindness. We also demonstrated how the simple things that we do every day, can count in a major way.

So… Who would you take a #SelflessSelfie for? Tell us on Twitter or Instagram.
